The Prerna Centre wanted to build a healing retreat to facilitate healing, learning and a shift in consciousness. This was to be done through alternative healing practices and interactive instruction. The brief included architectural and interior design of the lobby, offices, restaurant, conference room, guest rooms, guest cottages, a wellness and learning centre, and back-of-house areas, including staff housing.
The large site is nestled against the edge of Rajaji National Park. Individual buildings are scattered around the landscape. The architecture is low-rise with tiled roofs and deep verandas. The wellness and learning centre consists of two larger and two smaller buildings connected to each other by covered walkways. Apart from the lobby, there are individual treatment rooms and larger spaces for group therapy. Each guest cottage has two pairs of interconnected rooms, which can be sold individually or together. The rooms are of two sizes. Stairs lead to the roof, from where one can get a good view of the surrounding landscape. There is also a block of standard guest rooms.
Located between Dehradun and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, India. The plot size is 9.3 hectares (22.9 acres). Designed between Jun 2011 and Nov 2011, this project was not built. Master planning, landscape architecture and services engineering by Integral Designs.
